It’s pretty hard to feel sorry for Gina, Twiggy and Clive and the Mining tax when it takes them 15-30 minutes to earn what I do in a year. I’m not crying poor I have a very nice lifestyle so if those guys think they are going to be badly affected they must be very poor business people.

The mining sector, like all private sectors, lobbies fiercely for the provision of infrastructure by the state through taxpayer funding to meet their requirements.

To claim otherwise is naïve at best.

Furthermore, over the past 20 years of Coalition leadership at a federal level (in two separate stints) there has never once been a reduction in spending in real terms by the Liberal Party led government. So, insofar as “freebies” from the government at a federal level, your apparent preferred party is just as at fault.

We’re a major source of brown and black coal (projections indicate enough for another ~400 years, if we aren’t done medium-rare by global warming), we have fairly large deposits of oil/gas, both near bass strait, and northwest of northern WA. We have over 95% of the world’s uranium deposits, with almost every single actual economically viable deposit of uranium ore in Australia. We have massive deposits of 90% pure iron (quite often, it’s purified to about 60% before being sold on the international market, so we have to ADD SAND INTO THE IRON, instead of actually removing it). Do we really need to worry about companies moving overseas just because we demand a realistic tax?

I’m assuming (though by how idiotic you rant is it’s debatable) that you have completed schooling. Even if you attended a private school they recieve a large amount of funding from the government. And where do you think that money comes from? Are you honestly trying to say that it is unfair for money to be put towards providing education. Again I ask, are you insane? On that note if it is infact the case that you are insane are your mining mangnate friends going to provide you with free mental health treatment? No – but the public health system will.
You know why there is no ads asking Australians to care about shareholders – because it wouldn’t work. Besides, you really think that the mining billionaires are going to stop exploiting Australia’s natural resources. Your precious shares will be fine.
An lastly, when all the naturl resources are gone, do you think these mining executives are going to be reaching into their deep pockets to fork out for the clean up and repair the destruction that their mining practices has caused to the environment?

Oh my god. I can’t believe what this world is coming down to. People are suffering all over the world especially the needy and you’re concerned about how you’re losing $10.5 billion dollars and you’re already rich anyway!? I know. Do you know how much work these “achievers” have to do to inherit all that money? Being born into a family and automatically having access to a couple of hundred million dollars (by “right” of birth) is hard work. Obviously you’re much superior to those evil lazy working-50-hours-a-week criminals. Why should they have a right to half-decent health care? Your lounging around in your $200 000 000 mansion all day does MUCH more to help society than their researching for a cure for cancer ever will.

On average, how much better/more hard working ARE these millionares? If they get $1million a year, then OBVIOUSLY they must be 10x better. They unfortunately have to lay off 1000 workers, while 6 months ago they only got a bonus of $2million! It’s crazy how unfair even LESS money would be. I mean really, how is a billionare supposed to get enough money to get by (in a solid gold limousine, or five) on?
